What is skin needling?
Skin needling, also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a specialised device with tiny, fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin.
These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing process, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, two key proteins that are essential for maintaining the skin’s firmness, elasticity, and youthful appearance.
The treatment works by promoting skin regeneration, which helps to improve a range of skin concerns. As collagen and elastin levels increase, the skin becomes smoother, firmer, and more even.
Skin needling is highly effective in addressing various skin issues, including fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, signs of ageing, skin laxity, large pores, and hyperpigmentation.
It also improves overall skin texture, leaving the skin looking refreshed, rejuvenated, and glowing.
Because the procedure stimulates the skin’s natural healing response, it can be used on virtually all skin types and is suitable for both the face and body. With a series of treatments, clients often see long-lasting improvements in skin tone, texture, and overall appearance.

Does it hurt?
At SKYNN, we recognise that each individual has different levels of comfort when it comes to skin treatments, and that pain tolerance is highly subjective.
We aim to make your experience as comfortable as possible while achieving the best results.
For skin needling treatments, we typically recommend that your first session be completed without numbing cream, as this allows us to assess how your skin responds to the procedure and ensures the most effective treatment.
However, if you feel more comfortable with numbing cream, it can be applied for an additional cost to help reduce any discomfort during the treatment.
Our priority is your comfort and confidence, so we are happy to accommodate your preferences to ensure you have a positive experience.

What will my face look like straight after the treatment?
Right after skin needling, someone's skin may appear red and slightly swollen, resembling a mild sunburn.
There may be some pinpoint bleeding in areas where the needles penetrated more deeply.
As the initial redness subsides, the skin might feel tight or sensitive.
Over the next few days, it’s common for the skin to show some flaking or dryness as it begins to heal.
Overall, while the skin may look a bit irritated immediately after the procedure, these effects typically diminish within a few days.
-
How long is the downtime?
Downtime for skin needling typically lasts between 24 to 72 hours, depending on individual skin sensitivity and the depth of the treatment.
After the procedure, you may experience redness, swelling, and a sensation similar to a mild sunburn, which gradually subsides.
Minor bruising or facial swelling, if they occur, can last up to a week but are generally rare.
Most clients can return to their regular activities within a day or two, although it's advisable to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and harsh skincare products during the recovery period.
Following proper aftercare instructions will help ensure optimal healing and results.

Are there any potential risks to consider?
Skin needling is considered to be a safe procedure with minimal risks.
At SKYNN, you are in safe hands and you will also receive customised serums that are infused into the skin in each treatment to assist with your concern.
-
What is the ideal interval between treatments?
